Make your own equipment

So obviously in the world of martial arts, working out and weapon mastery there is a crazy amount of equipment that one would need to train in any one of these arts. This can range from books to clothes to weights to machines to bars to weapons to ropes or simply, a tree.

I myself, have a collection of weapons, a weight set, a 12kg kettlebell and skipping rope with a few martial art and weaponry texts as guides for my training yet I constantly struggle to acquire the equipment I need to train proficiently or sufficiently (eg. a heavy boxing bag, wall bag, martial arts wooden dummy, etc).

Yet, one must learn to be resourceful and make do with what they have. And so, for example, I have created my own striking plank with which I can adjust the padded area so that I may practice punches, kicks and all kinds of strikes on it, providing me with much-needed experience with striking against wood instead of simply the air.

So the next time you need weights....just buy 3L milk jugs or start lifting bricks or using your body (eg. lifting your leg to do bodyweight bicep curls) :)
The next time you need a wooden punching block, you could do what I did.
The next time you need a punchbag, fill up a bag/cushion with sand and hang it on the wall.
The next time you need boxing gloves, you could wear oven mitts with toilet paper wrapped hands.

Of course....if you can afford to buy whatever you need...you buy it, but if you're on a budget...improvise,

Another thing, learn to use your environment. Search for any nearby parks to see if they have monkey bars or pull-up bars. Surprisingly, many do.
